The A2 ‘birdcage’ is an industry standard design which remains in wide use in the U.S. military today. Effective flash suppression preserves the shooter's night vision by disrupting the muzzle flash when firing in low lighting conditions. Its closed bottom offers reduced dust signature when shooting from the prone position while additionally acting as a compensator.
